Channel 11 News just ran a story on wedding vendors where vendors disappeared with payment before the wedding services were rendered. This is a tragic story and while I know it can happen, I would say that it is very rare. I was recently helping a friend with her wedding and to my surprise, not one vendor gave her a contract. She completely hired and paid her wedding vendors without a contract of any sort. While I suggested that she ask for a contract, she felt that the vendors' words were enough of a guarantee. I would reccommend that you ask for a contract for any services that you expect for your wedding day. Wedding or Event Insurance is also a good investment for brides.
Contracts should be read over carefully and must highlight all the services that will be provided by that service or company. Be sure to keep a copy of the contracts so that you can review them during your planning process.
